However, the stepping motor as the driving source has a number of mechanical impurities such as backlash, eccentricity, rigidity change, variations in component size and others, resulting in fluctuations in the amount of motion. This means that lens control, particularly fine speed control, cannot be performed with high precision.
In order to improve the precision of lens control, it is proposed to use a lens driving apparatus having a plurality of lens driving motors which are driven independently of one another to perform a plurality of speed steps. Such lens driving apparatus is disclosed, for example, in U.S. Pat. Nos. 4,227,537 and 4,295,959.
In the motor driven lens driving apparatus described above, in order to perform control to attain a predetermined lens position, there is used a lens driving apparatus which has a configuration as shown in FIG. 1.
