Cassini Starter is a lightweight, cross-platform, and cross-language web server application. The purpose of Cassini Starter is to start Cassini so that you can have a web server instance running that you can work with.
Cassini Starter is designed with the following goals in mind:
1. To be cross-platform.
2. To be easily embedded in your application.
3. To be usable in a Windows application without requiring Windows-specific resources.
4. To be easy to use.
How Cassini Starter works:
Cassini Starter can be easily embedded in your Windows application. The application is completely self contained and doesn’t require an external installer. It comes as a single DLL. Cassini Starter uses Visual Studio’s Cassini server as a core library. The application ships with Visual Studio and is included in the Visual Studio Gallery.
Cassini Starter has been designed to make it easy to start a web server. You can use Cassini Starter as a standalone application or you can embed it into a Windows application. Cassini Starter provides two simple buttons for starting a web server and the server will run until it is manually closed. Cassini Starter has no embedded HTML pages so you don’t have to worry about enabling.NET Framework and adding permission levels for HTML content. Cassini Starter is controlled by a simple configuration file that is written to a new folder created for you when you start a web server.
