The Satake-Takata Line (真八丁線 Satake Hachidori), also known as the Main Line 1 (or Satake Line), is the primary east-west line of the Tokyo Metro. At 6.072 km in length, it is the longest rail line in the Tokyo area and second longest rail line overall. It connects Nakano and Ōmiya, where it intersects with the Sōbu Main Line, and runs along the Chuo River through Chūō and Chūō-ku, Nakano, and Tokyo.

The line first opened in December 1943 during World War II, as a connection from Tokyo’s Ueno Station to Omiya Station. The line was extended to Shinjuku Station in 1958. The line was connected to the Yokosuka Line in 1962. These extensions resulted in a massive reduction in journey times for commuters, especially in the morning rush hour. All station names are named for kanji characters. All but Ueno, Omiya, Katsushika, and Wakōshi are also named after places in Tokyo.

As of October 2010, 12.9 million passengers use the line on a daily basis, making it the second-busiest Tokyo Metro line.

Like many Tokyo Metro lines, the line has never used centre-running trains, instead using single-car trainsets at all times. At the majority of stations on the line, one platform serves outbound trains while the other platform serves inbound trains.
