Another new feature in Photoshop is Content-Aware Scaling. With content aware image scaling, if the image you are working on is larger than your monitor or your computer screen, you can now view the image in full on your screen. The tool will scale the larger image to fit the window._ In addition, Photoshop also allows you to crop your image to a desired size. To access Content Aware Scaling head to Photoshop, and choose Image > Image Size and Scaling_Section 1.

Also, you can now layer masks using the Layer mask tool. For those who aren’t familiar with the Layer mask tool, it’s found at the bottom left of Photoshop. These are for objects selected by one of Photoshop’s powerful Selection tools. The Layer mask tool allows you to edit the color or transparency of the layer, while still maintaining the transparency of other layers below.

To add to the selection tools, the feature now also includes the Brush option, in addition to the well-known Rectangle, Lasso, and Elliptical. The Brush option is now on the top tool bar, for easier selection of areas. There is also a Merge feature that allows content from layers to be merged to create a unified selection at the click of a button.

Another new feature is Photoshop’s Content-Aware Move tool. This content aware tool will select from an entire image by selecting your content and then scan the image for features similar to those of the content you’ve selected. With this tool, you can update and manipulate the content in the image, without altering surrounding areas.

All new features are available immediately, with more Adobe Photoshop features (such as the speed benefits of using PSD files) coming in a subsequent update that will roll out over the next few months.
