Business users will now see the most improvement without learning how to implement the algorithm. The algorithm helps to identify areas of colors that could cause a gradient to look unnatural. Photoshop used to look at the color pixels in the image, and then in a patch of the same size and color, look for the closest RGB value. When looking for the closest match in a duplicate image, the algorithm now instead chooses the closest color within a set percentage of the original color. There is a field that lets you set the percentage over which duplicate colors will be considered acceptable, but by default the new algorithm looks within 10 percent of the original color. The algorithm can also be turned off by deselecting the Use Leaky Bucket under the Gradient tool menu.
