I have a couple of iOS 7 devices and even some Windows 10 phones still in rotation. If I wanted to be on the bleeding edge, I might use a developer version of a program, but I try to always find value in doing the time-consuming stuff with the latest version. Now, the latest is always available, and it’s just as easy to use if you’re not willing to upgrade as it was to use the latest version.

Yet, there are still benefits. I’m able to experiment and find new ways to use the program, and my Windows 10 PC doesn’t lag in the least while I recover from a crash or restart. That’s the big difference. Adobe has even increased the maximum RAM allocation from 2 GB to 6 GB, and Lightroom doesn’t take as much RAM. I have less issues now with crashes and bottlenecks due to RAM usage. Unfortunately, other software seems to ignore that and keep the demand for RAM up. If not for that, I’d recommend anyone who doesn’t use more than a few megabytes of RAM should give Photoshop a try.
