You can download and install the program onto 2 computers (Desktop & Laptop) at the same time (I did), and you can save and hide your pre-existing files, to avoid editing over previous images on your computer. As for the shortcomings of the program, there isn’t any really, other than the fact that the program is a bit pricey if you decide to upgrade to the Premium version (the reason I bought it). I would recommend it, but only if you have the budget and are looking more for the power that the Premium-level version provides. So here are the best features to expect for the year ahead:
An important new feature is that all new Photoshop editors will be able to run on macOS Mojave. They will no longer have to use the carbon app bundle, despite the fact that this app bundle has been popular and is supported by the whole community. We’ve seen some high profile users for example, who have elected to be on the Mojave/Catalina platform, feeling that it’s a cleaner, newer platform, better for performance and it’s even more stable.
Since it’s a Mac app, they’ll deliver the best performance, and the best tooling experience, including the new and upcoming Mac Performance feature. Similarly, macOS Mojave is also going to be supported by Photoshop and other Creative Cloud products. And, finally, released with macOS Mojave, are some exciting new features on how Photoshop will display on your Mac — including retaining the HIG and utilising much faster graphics, rather than the previous Carbon.
Photoshop has supported keyboard shortcuts for years. Some of them are, in keyboard short form, shown in the image at right. This section of our intro covers some keyboard shortcuts for working with Photoshop files. The list is not exhaustive of every keyboard shortcut, but rather provides a few for convenience.
You can also import images from existing folders in Finder to the new Organizer. In the previous interface this was called the Library, and it would create a new folder for each imported image. Now, this folder is made available in the Organizer along with duplicates from the original source.

The latest version of Photoshop Elements includes powerful new AI features to make it easier to edit, correct, and speed up web output. Elements now leverages the services of third party web developers to enable richer, faster access to web content. For example, consumers can search and quickly pull up images from a library, virtually anything directly from the web, and they can also search for and pop up a specific web page in an automatic screenshot, complete with headers and a background.
The new version of Photoshop Elements uses AI to convert images to a broad range of output formats. It also uses AI to perform edits, including the automatic adjustment of image brightness and contrast for viewing on mobile devices, the fixing of white borders, and the recovering of missing content. AI also helps find red eye, correct white balance and remove other distortions.
AI helps humans and machines work more efficiently together. First, AI allows images to be searchable across a library. Elements then uses AI to find images on the web based on those search terms and gets them in a uniform format. As a result, users can share or paste the new web images right into Photoshop Elements 13, where they can be easily inserted into a project. The AI-powered features also work within webpages, enabling web content, including text, to be easily inserted. Finally, the AI-powered tools allow images to be embedded in third-party sites, including those based on content delivery networks (CDN).
After upgrading to this new version, it’s clear that the changes to Photoshop Elements and Photoshop are mostly geared toward making the software more accessible to beginner and nonprofessional users. Colorful previews help you improve the look of your photos, you can easily adjust the brightness and contrast of a photo, and you can use one-stop tools to get rid of red eye, blur, and more.
The color wheels in the Adjustments panel have been replaced with a new system that uses thumbnail previews, which make it much easier to see what adjustments you’re making in a photo. The ability to tap to select a color category has been removed, however. And Layer Styles and Motion Blur, found in Photoshop classrooms, have been relegated to a new menu, where you learn about how to use them.
The Look panel now lets you apply a style to the entire photo, rather than just an adjustment mask; it’s also gained a new option for selecting soft light and hard light. There are now five presets to choose from, and the original Lightroom style can now be applied to a photo.
Some Elements-only tools have been migrated to Photoshop, including tilt-shift, lens blur, and the Pan and Zoom tools. Lens blur allows you to change the perspective of a photo, while the Pan and Zoom tools let you change the size of a photo and move the photo around a canvas.
The photo overlay feature lets you add a grayscale mask to a photo, which highlights the areas of the photo that you want to keep, and wipes out the area you want to hide. You can also double-click on the overlay and edit the mask to retain different parts of the photo.
Share your latest masterpiece or check the progress of someone else’s shared canvas. You can also check the progress of a shared canvas as someone else adds to it. Now you can provide feedback while the user works—for example, quickly sharing an editorial comment or criticism alongside the image, and instantly collaborating with others so everyone is on the same page. Share for Review keeps the design conversations accessible online, so colleagues can already share and discuss your work in progress without needing access to your folders. This feature is available in the desktop app today and will be available in the web app starting in 2021.
Adobe Sensei, Adobe’s AI engine, enables Photoshop to analyze the visual content in your images and make highly accurate predictions about what you’ll need to do to get your photos looking good. Now, you’ll be able to Use AI in Photoshop to understand your camera’s vision, including by inspecting your camera’s view of the world, identifying and classifying objects, predicting how the camera will react to edits, and comparing shots to each other.
