You then stop Lightroom 5 and return it to your library. To close out this review, I want to discuss the purpose of Lightroom’s update options.

For non-photographers, Photoshop Elements is a more complete program, although if you just need a little editing work, Lightroom’s powerful tools and simple editing interface will serve you better. There are other important differences between the two programs: Files are versioned in Elements, and the Express and Web-based editing apps don’t have this capability. Edit files on a consistent basis in Photoshop and Adobe’s latest release of the CS6 format. With the speed and performance increases that are possible with Lightroom and Elements, the future of the programs seems bright.
The other big news from yesterday’s announcement is Adobe Typekit, a broader version of its webfont services that anyone can use for free. Previously it was for web designers and the open-source community. Now it is more open. I do realize the strength of a paid-version nature of this type of service, but at least this time Adobe is making it available to all.
