CPWD provides good pension to its employees. The pension is as per the provisions of employees under the Central Government and as per the law of own State Government. CPWD has also extended Gratuity by two years to its employees in order to compensate the contribution made by them in the various departments. The Gratuity is payable only after 45 years of service.
The officers come from all parts of the country. The seniority of the cadre does not matter in CPWD but the cadre is provided a starting point as and when there is need. The cadre is in a position to start their career from the grade of Assistant Executive Engineer in the field and appointed in units of his/her designation as and when convenient. The number of years of service in CPWD is not a criteria to get promoted.
CPWD follows a policy of continuous learning. All the officers and employees are encouraged to do Self Development Activities. The Academy provides training to various departments and officers to assist them to upgrade their performance and integrity. The officers are also appraised continuously. Apart from this, we have floodlight courses for the officers.
CPWD is equipped with a 24 hour E-Cell/Unit. All the posts are occupied 24 hours a day. No officer/employee is allowed to stay away from his/her post for all the days in a week. In case of unavoidable reason the officer has to stay away for 3 days then demitting from the post is mandatory. If the reason is beyond 3 days then demitting is optional.
