The story is about the adventures of the four protagonists in the tale of Sinbad of the Arabian Nights (an emulation of Sinbad the Sailor). They job is to enter the storybooks of various tales and escape together with Nobita, who is tired of watching his adventures that he read from the books. But amidst their adventures, they’re forced to experience various tales and come into conflict with each other due to differences in their preferred tales. The more the group try to leave, the more trouble they get into. They are eventually rescued by the caliph of Baghdad during the reign of 7th Caliph.
Doraemon: Nobita’s Dorabian Nights was released in Japan on 9 March 1991 where it was shot across six days. It was released theatrically on its opening day. It was rated “A”, suggesting that people in their teens and (primary) school-aged children would enjoy it. It scored first place at the Japanese box office on its opening day and earned the distinction of being one of the top films of the year in Japan. The final US box office earning of 10 million dollars is a huge success for a film not released in the United States. The English dub of the film was released on VHS and DVD in the United States.
Like many of his adventures, Nobita is in fear of heights. Unaware that he is in a life raft, he sinks because his fear makes him float upwards. He eventually lands on the island of the lamp. He is captured by a prince of the island, who was out looking for a hero to use in his current situation. Nobita is rescued by three powerful warriors: the giant Ogre, the dark-skinned Cyclops, and the beautiful damsel. He is taken to the palace for a feast as the Prince rewards him for coming to his rescue.
