Plot
The film is based on the life and work of Dr . Bhimrao Ambedkar and his government work during the period of British colonial rule.

Critical reception
The film received mixed reviews from critics. Aandavanitheshnikithennadi.com gave it 3.5 stars out of 5 and stated “Prakash Baba has scripted this with a great sense of humour and a little edge to it that shows how he believes in the character. Nana Patekar plays Dr . Bhimrao Ambedkar with such conviction that he cannot take anyone’s performance as a match. As for Sonali Kulkarni, the young actress has got her identity, characterisation and expressions down well. Director Prakash Baba has done an awesome job and his focus on the characters brings out the realistic essence of the film. Though, it’s not that essential for audience to know that the characters are alive. They are believable and the kind of treatment they get throughout the film keeps one hooked to it.” Hindustan Times gave it 3 stars out of 5 and stated “The film is a big hit. Prakash Baba has kept his creativity intact and has given a full-fledged treatment to the characters”.
Paresh Ganatra of Koimoi.com said “Prakash Baba has done a good job in keeping the narration clean and simple, though it is a little overlong. The first half is very well done and then the film loses its pace, and its characters start performing individual acts and that leads to the audience being bored. There are also a few negative comparisons and innuendos made between Dr . Bhimrao Ambedkar and Mahatma Gandhi, but even if those had been done with a little more finesse, it would still be a good film.”.
