It doesn’t matter whether you use a burn utility or even use a manual boot disc — you must use the ISO file or else your computer won’t boot from the disc. If you use Nero, the ‘burning’ option will appear single boot and not multi boot. You must view it as ‘Nero burning image and boot’ and not as ‘Nero burning image and ISO’
What you do is download the iso, unzip it, then burn it. You can either burn the original (unmodified).iso file directly (ie. right clicking and going to the Burn tab), or you can extract the bootable directory into a directory on the hard drive, in which case ther is a proper Burn icon in the folder. It doesn’t make a difference either way and it isn’t something you need to worry about.
You can burn the original.iso file directly — or you can extract it and burn the directory from the hard drive. Only the original.iso files are compressed — extracted files are not. You should be able to burn the directory if you get the original.iso image burned correctly.
I think you have to get Hiren’s down in the Hiren’s internet explorer, since the.zip is not a real.iso. You should make sure you have the right.zip though, since I’ve seen folks burn the wrong one.
On the other hand, my Hiren’s 10.4 has a ‘competitor’ program built into it called Leifswire.
Hiren’s does have some freeware programs, such as ‘Autorun.inf’ and ‘InstallShield.exe’ that will sometimes damage your other programs, but these are only evil, not the normal-non-evil ware, in the sense of they aren’t permitting you to do evil things to your system. [ BACK TO THE FUTURE! ]
