Tamizhselvan is now a chief minister, thanks to Kamal, and he is married to Kalpana, the sister of Anandan, who is still alive after years. This is Kalpana’s trial on the annulment (and further excommunication) of Tamizhselvan’s religion and caste, and an attempt by Anandan to confront him over the fake certificate denouncing him as a Hindu, which was supplied by the latter in order to gain political power. It is soon revealed that the fake certificate was written by Ani, a previous chief minister.
Ndioum is pursuing her project at the same time, encountering self-imposed problems, as her obsession, emotionally abusive but economically strangled, keeps her from running the family business.
Ani has fallen foul of the government, and is sentenced to two years in jail. An immediate concern is that a conspiracy is brewing to dethrone him, and he learns that his former right-hand-man Ramani and Kalpana have plotted to kill him. In exchange for her sister’s life, Kalpana seeks to annul his excommunication, after which Ani will regain his throne. She also toys with the idea of using Tamizhselvan to further ascend to the throne, for which she uses Tamizhselvan’s marriage to Kalpana as bait.
Ani discovers the conspiracy, and is advised to escape from the monastery, where he plans to have Anandan killed. He pretends to accept, but shortly after being paroled, his friends appear, and the monastery is turned upside down by a police raid.
