“I think I’m in good shape, but mentally I’m still a little tired from all the running.

“I didn’t get a chance to sleep over the weekend and I slept until 11am on the day.

“I’m really happy to be leading the race, but I’m not tired at all.”

Despite the early finish, and a hard night of running, Jacobs said it was always going to be an interesting race.

“The early start and the long running time is always a strange kind of race.

“I think a lot of people weren’t expecting it to come down to just one person winning.”

After a strong lead up and seven years of doing the race, Jacobs is looking forward to defending his title.
