More recent photos look better without the haze. There are also four smaller/smaller images for each RAW file on the right. Most of the time the quality deteriorates. However, some images fare very well against those with fuzzy noise reduction.
To make things interesting, you can thump an Adobe stock image against one of the RAW files for the same image. The comparison is shown below. In the left-hand image, no HDR was applied. In the right-hand image, the same image got an HDR. The HDR wasn’t applied, though, which is why everything appears brighter.
