The entire process of installing Adobe Photoshop and then cracking it is simple and easy. First, you will need to purchase the software. No matter how much you may hate the new UI approach, I think you will agree that it is more intuitive than the old one, and some of its features are also more powerful. I, for one, am enjoying using the Smart Brush tool and I like being able to make precision adjustments to the layers in one image. If you do not like the new UI technique, you obviously will be using the old one (I am still a traditionalist at heart).
The comparisons with Photoshop CS6 are pretty awesome. They offer tons of new features such as advanced typography and using the entire canvas rather than having to resample into a frame. The biggest surprise to me was the Content-Aware Fill and Make Color Adjustments features. I had to try those out for a while to figure out how they work. And if you can see this entire write-up, you’re lucky.
You can certainly import your own artwork into Photoshop CS6, but I will make the mistake of letting my personal stuff into it again. While I know it is possible, I cannot fathom the disaster it would be to try to import a TON of artwork into a program. If Photoshop can handle that many layers of artwork, it means it is capable of handling a TON. You would be overwhelmed with variables. Instead, export it to PSD, then copy and paste. It still won’t take up that much space, and you can always edit. You should do that regardless of the importing software you use.
The performance of Photoshop is great, and no slowdowns have occurred, even when opening and closing a folder of images. Adobe’s Preset Manager is one of the best I’ve ever seen, with lots of options to aid you in your work. This software is still on the cutting edge in terms of performance and features. Everyone isn’t working at the same speed as you, so don’t sweat if beginner mode takes longer than anticipated. –
