As much as I love all of the new features in Lightroom 6, I have to admit that I am a bit disappointed about the lack of a subscription service offered as part of the new Creative Cloud subscription. This is certainly something I will look into, though, when the full release of CS6 has hit the streets.

In case you skip this section, yes, Photoshop CS6 update 3 fixed the issue where you couldn’t access any of the (image) menus. If you access them repeatedly, you may have to force quit Photoshop. The problem was related to changes in Adobe Camera RAW to how it’s applied (indeed, why it had to be changed at all). Adobe claims several 5-10% speed improvements, though that may not really be the case. Lightroom 5 had a similar issue and it took me months to figure it out. I wonder if the CS6 update, which released more recently, has that fix.

Adobe has carried forward the previous “free” subscription model based on terms changing from year to year, with a low price for a yearly subscription. If you buy into the subscription model, you can access Photoshop, Lightroom, or both at no cost, as a Guest or at no cost, as a Creative Cloud member. There are some “price breaks” for certain special promotions or if you sign up for 36 months, but otherwise the cost is almost the same. If you don’t want to take advantage of the special promotions, you can sign up for a one-time access to use Photoshop Elements alone for example at a cost of $49. After the first time you sign up, Adobe doesn’t offer the same price until you cancel or upgrade your product. I have no intention of switching to a subscription model. Also, I don’t like the fact that Adobe forces me to purchase only on the App Store each time I want to install a new update. It’s a nuisance.

Illustrator’s powerful features are concentrated in a few frequently-accessed toolbars at the bottom of the screen, between a handful of panels. Descriptions for each new panel are always in the menu, and they can be toggled on and off individually. New panels are easy to activate so you can get to frequently-used items quickly. As for Adobe Photoshop editing skill levels, there are 4 different levels available based on your experience and budget. All levels have their advantages and disadvantages. If it’s a new program that you want to try out for the first time, the Starter or Premium levels are wise choices. The most powerful and expensive version, the Creative Suite, is best reserved for experienced Photoshop users who don’t mind paying for additional features. If your budget doesn’t stretch to the expensive version of Photoshop, it’s still a reasonable option to buy a basic or advanced version, depending on your needs. You can also try different levels of Photoshop for free, so trial and error can help you determine which one is best for you.

Nowadays, most of the web browsers (Internet Explorer, Safari, Mozilla Firefox, etc.) ship with a reader that can read and edit various formats of files. So if you come across a program or document, that is only in one or two file formats that you can’t open, you may consider alternative illustrations. These are file formats in which the image data is saved, and can be read by these browsers. Take note that these files can only be loaded on the web so they do not have the application installed. The most popular are AI, EPS, PSD, SVG, JPG, GIF, and the others.

Each artist, graphic designer, and photographer has their own way of working. Everybody will have different expectations, preferences, tools, and issues. The new features will be available to registered attendees later this week, with everyone else following shortly thereafter. Adobe Sensei AI will introduce the new capabilities to web browsing from Adobe Edge, the company’s next-generation browser. Web content and editing tools will work in harmony with the desktop application, further empowering image creators to achieve creative results.

Adobe Photoshop is a feature-packed software for editing imagery and graphics with the most powerful tools for cutting, pasting, reducing, enlarging, transforming, color correcting, and editing your files, your photographs and your artwork. Photoshop helps you modify and perfect your images and keeps everything you do always in sync. Import your photos, adjust the colors and more with the best filters, crop to specific shapes, live crop, and much more to have the best output. There are different shapes and size tools like rectangle, circle, square, etc. and various type of masking tools were provided for cutting out that area of an image. There are also other tools such as auto-adjust, sliders, clone, healing, levels, spot healing, smudge, sharpen, color correct, etc.

And with the update, you can enjoy a number of product enhancements based on customer feedback. In addition to the selection enhancements mentioned above, the new Browser feature adds features that make it easier to drag and drop files into Photoshop from Preview or other images in the browser; the Trash can now show dynamic lift/drop indicator for drag actions; the Path Selection tool now encompasses the entire path, making it easier to drag individual components of a path; and, the newly integrated SmartPoints tool makes it easier to sketch based on an image’s shape.

The new features are available in the beta release starting today on the beta.photoshop.com website. Users of previous versions of Photoshop CC can download the new version available on Tuesday, Sept. 12.

The 20.4 update was a great improvement to the overall workflow experience in Photoshop, with file saving, the new web browser, and the new smart guides features, but the biggest missing piece was the option to edit a file in the cloud. While we’re still waiting on that release, we are confident that they will provide a better experience with their cloud based editing.

Typekit

In June 2020, they released a new typeface called Tribes. Normally, we would think that this would be built into Photoshop. But, not only did it not get incorporated, but they replaced their font with a custom font from the Google’s Creative Cloud Typekit service. While we appreciate the creative direction of the typeface, combining it with the creative service has meant that if we ever need to replace the font, we have to find it in the Typekit API and install it manually. Instead of making six clicks to install a dot type font, it’s now a seven clicks. While they may have been anticipating millions of users switching over to a limited font choice, it still takes longer than it should to make a change. If Photoshop implemented Typekit, we would be able to just replace the font on our own and not have to deal with this.

AI is accelerating Photoshop at an incredible pace, with customers using it every day to achieve amazing results. Adobe will unleash the power of the Creative Cloud with an all-new cloud service, Adobe Sensei – powered by Machine Learning. Photoshop users will have access to Adobe Sensei, a powerful machine learning module that helps them get better results from images and documents.
