Hundreds of Albanians demonstrated in front of the EU’s border control agency today to protest against the rejection of their application to create an autonomous region in their country.
Approximately 300 people gathered in front of the agency’s headquarters in Tirana, demanding that the council of ministers reconsider its decision to reject a proposal to create a region in the northern part of the country.
The protests, which lasted from 5 a.m. to about 3 p.m., were the largest in Albania since the end of the communist regime, the Albanian National Press Agency reported.
